Why Combustion???: Are you tired of Franchised OEM dealerships that cannot do anything but routine service? Did you ever get the feeling that the guy changing your tires and oil on your new bike at the OEM dealer was “less-than-qualified”??? Combustion Cycles has the experience and knowledge to treat you AND your bike right, every time. We are more flexible and willing to do a larger variety of work. We have been serving the Durham community since 2003. There is an act of Congress called the “Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act” protecting your right to have your vehicle serviced anywhere you like, including Combustion Cycles! Go to the OEM dealer to buy the bike, but come to Combustion for service!!!
State Safety Inspections: North Carolina requires yearly safety inspections on all road-going motorcycles. Getting your inspection done at Combustion Cycles is quick and easy; stop by any time – no appointment is necessary – and in about 10 minutes we’ll have your bike inspected and get you back on the road. Please bring your old registration card if you have one.
Tires: Our motorcycle tire prices can’t be beat! We can price match with most reputable online stores. We carry a full selection of tires from Dunlop, Bridgestone, Continental and Shinko and can have almost any tire we don’t stock in our hands the next day. Tires can be installed while-you-wait, any time we’re open.
Please note that some online sellers are trying to unload tires that are a few years old before they completely lose their value. Tires dry and become less supple over time so it’s always recommended that you buy fresh tires if you’d like them to last a few years. We cannot always match prices on old stock but we will try. Combustion Cycles does not sell old-stock or aged-out tires.
Batteries: We stock quality lead-acid (“wet”), gel, and AGM batteries by Yuasa for most motorcycles. Batteries can be installed while-you-wait, any time we’re open. Installation is just $19 for most bikes.
Oil and Filter: Getting regular oil changes is one of the simplest things you can do to give your bike a long, trouble-free life. We keep filters in stock for most motorcycles.
Oil changes are recommended for motorcycles every 3000 miles or every year, whichever comes first. Choose standard oil, or synthetic for high performance protection. Oil changes start at $86 with standard oil and filter and can be done while-you-wait, any time we’re open.
Recommended Interval Service: Keeping up-to-date with manufacturer-recommended interval service is, hands-down, the best thing you can do to keep your bike running well and running reliably for many years to come. When your bike is serviced at Combustion Cycles, we let you know what interval services your bike needs, what’s already been taken care of, and what else needs to be done to get up-to-date. And we’ll gladly help you prioritize services so you can stay within your budget.
Repair: Whether it is a simple issue like a leak or bad connection, or it’s a complete rebuild, we know metric bikes from vintage to modern. If you’re having a problem with your bike and can’t figure it out, we’ll diagnose the problem and let you know what’s going on. If a problem can be fixed on-the-fly during diagnosis, we’ll fix it and get you back on the road as quickly as possible.
Before we start diagnosing any problems, we ask you to authorize up to 1.5 hours of diagnostic time so that we can get in there and test and take things apart as necessary until we find the problem(s). You will only be charged for the actual diagnostic time, up to the 1.5 hours you have authorized. Then we’ll work up a quote for any remaining parts and labor needed to fix the problem(s). We’ll contact you with the quote and also let you know about any other work we might recommend. Once you give us a go-ahead, we’ll proceed with whatever work you’ve authorized. Our shop labor rate is $96 per hour.
